This toolkit published by the City Bar Justice Center is designed to give New Yorkers an overview of legal issues that may come up for persons with criminal convictions who want to start a new business or move forward with a business they already have begun. The toolkit provides explanation of the laws against employment discrimination based
on criminal records; provides tips for getting necessary identification documents and applying for certificates of rehabilitation; and sets out steps for planning and starting a business, and for applying for
necessary licenses.
