The Prisoner Reentry Institute is pleased to announce the availability of Back to School: A Guide to Continuing Your Education after Prison, drafted with support from the United States Department of Education. It is intended to serve as a national resource guide for currently and formerly incarcerated individuals planning to pursue or continue their education post-release. Back to School includes the following components:

An overview of the process of planning for and gaining an education. Strategies for setting realistic educational and professional goals. Information and access points for education programs ranging from literacy through academic and vocational post-secondary. Instructions for applying for financial assistance.
First-person accounts and advice from formerly incarcerated students who have realized a diverse array of educational achievements.

We hope Back to School will be a valuable tool to assist the work of correctional and community-based reentry staff, as well as inspire and support people leaving prison to take advantage of educational resources in their communities. Back to School and related materials can be downloaded from the publication page of the Prisoner Reentry Institute's website.
