Reentry Resource Center - New York

Serving People from Arrest to Reintegration

View by: Folder | Topic

The documents in this folder provide information about criminal history restrictions for individual childcare providers working under the childcare subsidy program, which is overseen by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS).

Individuals who wish to participate in the program as childcare providers are subject to the same protections against criminal record-based discrimination as other job applicants. However, OFCS maintains a list of Crimes Against Children and Violent and Other Serious Crimes, which amount to presumptive disqualifications for potential providers. The policy does allow for exceptions to these disqualifications under "extraordinary circumstances."
