As of July 2007, 5.3 million American citizens are barred from the polls because of a felony conviction. In 11 states, you can lose your right to vote for life. This folder offers some information and resources on the state of voting rights for felons.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), The Brennan Center for Justice and the Sentencing Project have organized the Right to Vote Campaign and each offer resources for advocates as well as provide support for policy change.
