We are now accepting applications for the Spring 2010 cycle of ReConnect, the Women in Prison Project's leadership training program for women who are currently in transition home from prison, jail, or an alternative to incarceration (ATI) program and who would benefit from learning the basics of how to advocate more effectively for themselves and others who are negatively affected by the criminal justice system.

Through interactive workshops, ReConnect participants examine the root causes of women's incarceration, ways to overcome systemic barriers to employment, housing, parental rights, consumer rights, and higher education, and how to work collectively to change the policies that adversely impact incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women.

The Spring 2010 ReConnect cycle will start on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 and run through Wednesday, May 19, 2010. An informational flyer and application are attached. If you know of a woman who is currently in transition home from prison, jail, or an ATI and would benefit from learning basic advocacy skills for a more successful reintegration back into the community, please apply to ReConnect.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me at (212) 254-5700 x338. Also, please go to www.correctionalassociation.org for more information about ReConnect, the Women in Prison Project, and the Coalition for Women Prisoners.
