ROTW: Floyd/Ligon Remedial Opinion

US District Court Judge Shira A. Scheindlin ruled in Floyd v. City of NY that the NYPD's stop and frisk program violates the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights of tens of thousands of Black and Latino New Yorkers. In a separate opinion covering both Floyd and Ligon v. City of New York, the judge laid out what New York City must do to address the violations, including installing an Independent Monitor and a participating in a Joint Remedial Process involving people directly impacted by stop and frisk.
