Assurance of Discontinuance that resolves the investigation by The Office of the Attorney General, which found that Radio Shack unlawfully rejected the employment applications and withdrew conditional offers of employment of people based on criminal record histories without considering a number of factors required by New York Correction Law.

The settlement requires Radio Shack to fully comply with the law, revising its employment policy, getting written authorization before conducting a criminal background check, providing written record of all evaluations performed and reasons for the decision under New York Correction law to all applicants. Radio Shack is required to provide training to all its employees responsible for hiring and to ensure Equal Employment Opportunity policy and the agreements under this settlement. Additionally, Radio Shack is required to bring an independent monitor with expertise in the monitoring of EEO policies and compliance with workplace anti-discrimination laws, to monitor RadioShack's compliance with the new policies and other provisions of this Assurance.
