RAPP and a community of New Yorkers are hosting a speak-out outside the Governor's NYC office (633 3rd Avenue) on Monday, August 6th at 8am to call for more changes to the NYS Parole Board in the name of formerly incarcerated person, John MacKenzie (flyer attached).

It has been two years since Mr. MacKenzie died by suicide at 70 years old, just days after his 10th parole denial and 40 years in prison (see his story here & here). His case is particularly egregious because Parole Board Commissioner W. William Smith illegally denied MacKenzie at his last Parole Board.

RAPP and co. will be calling on the Governor to use his Executive power to dismiss Commissioner Smith from the Parole Board and publicly shame the Governor for the 961 deaths that have happened in NYS prisons since he took office.
