This seminar will offer an overview of certain forms of relief from removal including cancellation of removal for permanent residents, cancellation of removal for nonpermanent residents, adjustment of status, motions to reopen and motions to reconsider, and voluntary departure.  Other forms of relief will be noted, but not covered in detail as they are the subject of other trainings, including asylum, withholding of removal, and Convention Against Torture relief, as well as 212(c) and 212(h) waivers. The seminar will be conducted by Hasan Shafiqullah, Attorney-in-Charge of the Immigration Law Unit at the Legal Aid Society. Please note that this training is only open to organizations and attorneys based in New York State.
