Report released by the Justice Policy Institute argues that school resource officers (SROs) and other police in schools cause more harm than good. The report compiles information and data showing that school resource officers needlessly drive up arrests for behavior issues that can, and should, be dealt with inside the school. The report also highlights the negative impact of police presence on learning environment and the disproportionate effect of zero-tolerance policies on youth of color and youth with disabilities.
