The fifth section of the Commission's report acknowledges and addresses the myriad collateral consequences of criminal convictions. It urges both the defense and prosecutors to be aware of, and inform clients of, these consequences. Furthermore, it calls for greater assistance for offenders seeking to neutralize these collateral consequences.
