"Fleeing Felon" laws refer to situations in which a person is found to be actively fleeing to avoid prosecution for a felony. A warrant for arrest is not sufficient proof of this because many people do not know that they have open warrants. Instead, the warrant must be issued because a person is intentionally fleeing law enforcement. Fleeing Felon laws, as well as ineligibility bars related to probation or parole violators, impact most forms of public benefits, from state public assistance to federal SSI/SSD.
