Brief Description

CORRECTIONAL HEALTH CARE:Incarcerated individuals experience disproportionately higher rates of infectious and chronic diseases, substance abuse, mental illness and trauma than the general population. As such, jails and prisons represent one of the largest target populations for public health services in America, and are important sites for improving the overall health and well-being of communities. The Foundation is interested in projects that seek to improve the health (physical, mental, substance abuse) of inmates during their time of incarceration, and as they transition back to their home communities.

The Foundation encourages collaboration among providers and welcomes the opportunity to partner with foundations and other funders. All caregiving and correctional health care projects must comply with the funding guidelines described on this site.

Information about other private foundations funding in the area of criminal justice and reentry can be found at: http://www.reentry.net/ny/foundations-focused-on-reentry-and-related-areas-in-nyc.cfm

The Foundation welcomes proposalsfrom 501(c)(3) organizations that promote physical and emotional healing, especially to underserved populations, such as:

ยท Community-based organizations, health care providers, and research institutions

All applicants must secure formal endorsement and clearance from appropriate authorities at their institutions.
