The conference will address criminal justice and reentry policies that impact school aged and older youth 18 to 24. Areas of discussion will include:
- The criminalization of youth behavior in school systems and zero tolerance policies
- What happens to youth and their families when connected to the juvenile and adult criminal justice systems
- The collateral consequences youth and their families face.
The policy conference is a public forum that provides the rare occasion when community stakeholders -- key federal, state, and local policymakers; individuals with criminal records and their family members; community service providers; researchers; and many others -- can come together to discuss and develop solutions to the problems communities throughout the state are facing when attempting to improve public safety and the quality of life of community residents.
Dr. Pedro Noguera is one of the confirmed speakers and there will be many other notable speakers.
Advanced registration is required.
